I spent a couple of days on Chincoteague and Assateague Islands, two places made famous by Marguerite Henry’s books, “Misty of Chincoteague,” and, “Stormy, Misty’s Foal.” I missed the annual pony-penning by 48 hours, but given there were 50,000 swarming about this small town just to catch sight of the ponies, I probably wouldn’t have been able to see much anyway!
